The Office of the Chair Professor, Panchayati Raj, CNLU, in collaboration with UNICEF and the Department of Panchayati Raj, Government of Bihar, invites applications from CNLU students to support a Child Friendly Gram Panchayat model in Bihar.
Project overview
Objective: field‑level capacity building for child‑friendly, participatory Gram Panchayats in Bihar.
Coverage: 20 Gram Panchayats across Sherghati block (Gaya district) and Sahdei Buzurg block (Vaishali district).
Duration: 11 months starting November 2019.
Number of positions and locations
Total 40 student volunteers: 20 for Sherghati (Gaya) and 20 for Sahdei Buzurg (Vaishali).
Key responsibilities
Support the activation of standing committees in the targeted Gram Panchayats.
Engage with in‑ and out‑of‑school adolescents, help map local issues, and organise Bal Sabhas to discuss solutions ahead of Gram Panchayat Development Programme planning.
Time commitment and schedule
Visits will align with winter internship (Nov–Dec) and summer internship (May–June), plus two days per month during the regular academic session, as per the Chair Professor’s schedule.
The fieldwork is planned so that regular studies are not hampered.
Honorarium/support
A per‑day honorarium (for travel, food and lodging) will be provided for visits to the assigned block, as per UNICEF’s approved norms for this project.
Eligibility
Regular students of CNLU and alumni who have passed from the University and are willing to serve in the project.
Prior interest in Panchayati Raj, child rights or local governance is desirable.
Application process
Step 1 – Send CV: Interested candidates should email their CV, indicating preferred block (Sherghati or Sahdei Buzurg), to profprchaircnlu@gmail.com by 12 October 2019.
Step 2 – Written test (if required): If applications exceed available positions, a 100‑mark written examination will be conducted on 17 October 2019 at Moot Court Hall, Academic Block, CNLU.
Selection: Blocks will be allotted by the State Level Faculty based on merit and project needs.
